uinn was born in
a small seaside town in Maine to a music-making carny family
of many generations. His mother, a church organist, and his
dad, a rock guitarist exposed him to a wide spectrum of musical
influences, which lead him to play drums and write music before
his third birthday. His Summers were spent passing out prizes
to skee ball winners in the family penny arcade, as he listened
to the popular music of the day on the juke box, and standing
in the doorways of local nightclubs |
|
(He was too young to enter), where he
was able to soak up different styles of music and peer into
the musicians way of life. His love of the carnival-esque
atmosphere enticed him to perform for several years as the
'Skeleton' in the longest walk through haunted house in
New England, where he scared James Taylor, Alice Cooper
and maybe even you.
Split by the desire to be the next Walt Disney or to become
a profession musician, he made the decision to attend the
prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston,
where he received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance.
After graduation he moved to Los Angeles, where he entered
into his first record deal. His Debut cd Quinn was played
on radio stations everywhere, featured in films and even
promoted on a billboard on the famous Sunset Strip. After
venturing further into the music business, he began to consider
leaving it all behind to become a monk, but after immersing
himself in numerous spiritual books and embracing the need
to compose and perform, he decided to combine the two by
starting his own entertainment company called Orison Music,
which primarily focuses on works of hope, love and introspection.
Orison means 'Prayer' in Latin, and when combined with the
'M' in Music they form the spiritual and mystical syllable
'om', bringing both the Eastern and Western Worlds together.
This hybrid of cultures is what has infused Quinn's music
from the very beginning.
Currently Orison Records is releasing Quinn's tenth cd,
The Seduction Serenades and eleventh, Everything Fell Silent,
adding to a catalogue that spans the spectrum from Classical
to Rock and Gothic to Pop, always with a twist of the theatrical.
Aside from his solo career he is also a very in demand studio
musician and composer, touring the world with many renowned
artists. His music can be heard on television programs from
Oprah to the Olympics and he has appeared on numerous shows
including Kcrw, Echoes, Sirius, XM, Radio One, The Today
Show, The Tonight Show and The Late Show.
He has already begun writing and recording his twelfth cd
and whether he's playing drums, piano, pump organ, componium,
marxophone or some inspired instrument he's just built,
it's a given that it's creative spark will have come from
his long encoded carnival and spiritual dna.
